G'day lads/ladies, great forum, first post

As you probably guessed from the title I'm about to embark on a project with minimal tools and little to no automechanical background so I'm looking for any tips/advice I can get. I'm not a complete drongo just got no training. So far I've owned a daihatsu charade, V6 Calibra, and Skyline GTS. but I thought an old holden would present a more user freindly platform for some trial and error automotive education.

ATM I'm still weighing up wether to buy the car, so all the info I have is from the ad. But I need to be sure that what I want to do is possible given the stock configuration/model of the car. So here we go...

The car: 1970 HT wagon $4000, reg til MAY

The old bits: original 3 on the tree, 186 stroked to 192 (anyones guess how many ks ago), twin strombergs (installed who knows when), original (knackered) interior, original running gear, V8 radiator (hopefully original and not suggestive of cooling issues.

The new: plugs, points, leads, exhaust (no details provided other than its a full unit including headers and twin [flared] pipes, rubbers weatherseals, brake booster and m'cylinder and EXCELLENT paint.

The plan: bucket seats to allow for a 5speed toyota box, retrim interior (not too OTT i want a keep a bit of a ratrod vibe to it), (injected?) 5L transplant but I can wait a year or so for that (5th year on P plate restrictions! The judge was a C***T).

So not too high minded a plan but hopefully one I can involve myself in rather that outsourcing the work and bragging rights to someone else.

Now, some (stupid?) questions.

Is it a real PIA to change to bucket seats?, Do I even need to install buckets to make room for a floor shift?

Presumably the seats aren't too hard to install but whats involved in getting rid of the old and fixing the new mounts to the body, like are they welded/bolt in etc.

The celica/supra box looks to be about $200-$500 depending on type/quality but does anyone know what a full conversion kit would be likely to cost either as a whole or separate components?

What sort of money do engineeers charge for a cert?

Would certification be cheaper if I did the motor and box at the same time and had them certified together? Or do they both even require a cert?

Do the engine swap and gearbox swap both require the car to be blueslipped after installation?

Could someone explain the 10% rule to me again? Like if I change to an engine which is neither 10% higher or lower in capacity I don't need something (blueslip/engineer cert can't remember)?

Like I say any tips would be greatly appreciated
