Mick's V8 vh VH SLE EFI
Mick sent in some pics of his 1983 Holden VH SLE. Mick has done an efi 308 engine conversion, throwing in a 5 litre motor from a VR maloo ute. Not being satisfied with the stock hsv performance, he had to add a Come Racing 224kW chip and cam package. The compression has been raised to 9.6:1. The motor breathes sweetly via Pacemaker extractors
Mick has used a holden M21 4 speed gearbox and a VK calais 10-bold LSD with disc breaks all round. The car has a VL turbo fuel tank and fuel pumps. The car also has body enhancements such as a resprayed engine bay, battery located in the boot, and hell tinted windows.
It took Mick about 2 months to do it, and set him back about $6k. He was going to do it to a shell he bought for $200 bucks, but made the wised decision to start with a body in good nick, so he picked up this vh sle for $1700 unreg. As can be seen the outside is very tidy, as is the interior.
The sad part to the story is one night Mick took his efi sle out for a spin planted it in 4th gear, it kicked sideways going about 90-100kmh. It spun him around and he ended up sliding backwards down the road, off and into a tree. Mick has sent in some pics of the damage to his vh sle after this.
Mick has now bought a red vc commodore, which he is going to do the efi motor conversion to. Since all the front panels on the vh are still good, he's going to whack them on the vc to make it look like a vh. The car will then recieve a new paintjob, going the new ford XR6 orange.
Top work on your car Mick, efi 5 litre conversions into older holden commodores are cool. Your sle was tidy as, but we reckon the VC will come out looking even better. Keep us up to date with your holden mate.
