Hi everyone.
I just bought a 99 VTii commodore Acclaim and the thing is really nice. It already has fairly nice wheels on it so I won't want to change them.
the thing is, I don't know much about all the specialised car equipment that you can buy and modify - I only know basic things about a car and how it works.
I'd like to put an exhaust in it (with some sort of extractors I guess), lower it a tad, and maybe put a small body kit on it. Just to make it look a little nicer, go a little better and sound a little better.
I read on this site a lot about pacemaker extractors and 2.5 inch exhausts. What exactly do they do that make the car perform better and how do they work? Also, around how much will some good quality extractors and a good exhaust system cost to both buy and install? Does it make a difference whether the exhaust pipe is a circle or an eclipse? (because I really like the look of the eclipse shape ).
Will a 2.5inch exhaust make my car TOO noisy? I'd like it to sound great but not so noisy it's annoying and on the highway all I can hear is a drone type of sound. If it's too loud it'll attract too much attention.
Last thing, do any of you guys know how much it would cost to get a kit sprayed the same colour as my car? I have found a few kits on ebay that would fit my car and they look great but I'd have to paint them and fit them.
Here is my car for those of you who want to see . The pics are kind of blown out but what are ya gonna do ey?

Nice.
Know how much the exhaust system and extractors will cost, and what exactly they do to the car to make it perform better?

Hi Dylan,
Nice car. The idea behind extractors and performance exhausts is that they allow your gases to flow out of the combustion chambers quicker. Id say around 700 -1000 for extractors and exhaust, depending on a brands, bends, etc. Get mandrel bends if you can, they flow better.
Cheers,
Glen

Thanks for the info Glen, much appreciated.
I got a quote from a local workshop to lower the car...400-450 to take it in with no springs and they supply them and do it, or about 200 if I buy the springs myself and take them there with the car.
Sound like a good deal?

3 inch is a bit big for a v6 and besides i think he doesn't want it too noisy going by this (Will a 2.5inch exhaust make my car TOO noisy?) ild go the full 2/6 as suggested and a cold air intake SS induction kit with a K&N panel filter stuff pods.

there's nothing wrong with 3inch systems though some do tend to loose back pressure well that's what i have noticed on a few vl's and vt's which where fitted with 3inch and 2.5 systems the 2.5 just had that bit extra get up when stabbed in the guts.
