I was wondering how to replace the crank angle sensor in an early model VN 3.8 (pre nov 90).
Yesterday i drove for 40km into town, (i live 40km from the nearest town) and made a few visits, then suddenly it stopped, after talkin tro a few different people, and changing the coil pack, the problem is still there.. and so is the car

I am in the process of changing mine but mine is running i am having an intermittent misfire btw 1000-2000rpm on petrol but not on gas (duel fuel) i dont' think its the CAS but wanted to change it anyway.

I did one a while ago on my old engine and off memory, take the FEAD belt off (Front End Accessory Drive), Remove the bolt off the Harmonic ballancer (may need to select first gear if manual or Put screw driver in flex plate (selecting D or Park will not stop engine rotating due to torque converter). You will have to take the thermo fan shroud off.

Then remove plastic timing cover (be gentle not to crack) and the CAS should be obvious once you take the plug off. it looks like there are two nuts and the CAS slides through the bolds sticking out of the timing cover but they are two bolts that tread into the timing cover. They are usually tight as they have locktight on them from factory.

Make sure you aline the CAS with the fingers of the harmonic balancer so they don't hit when you fit it.
anyone else think i have forgotten something?
good luck
